Crock pot cinnamon apples

I’m so thrilled that fall is here with all its glorious flavors! Some people go pumpkin crazy, but I’m all about the apples.

I eat one almost every day whether it’s plain or in something delicious like apple scones with cinnamon whipped cream.

Peeling apples for Crock Pot Cinnamon Apples

The inspiration for these crock pot cinnamon apples comes from a dear roommate of mine.

She became a second mother to me when I moved to a completely new city and I learned a lot about hospitality and entertaining from her.

One of her favorite dishes to make was fried apples with lots of cinnamon.

Slicing apples for Crock Pot Cinnamon Apples

I like to call these crock pot cinnamon apples “everything apples” because they go with everything!

They’re like a less-sweet apple pie without the crust.

They’re delicious for breakfast and make a terrific topping for oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, you name it!

They’re also fantastic alongside savory dishes like roast pork or Thanksgiving dinner. You can also serve them for dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Easy Crockpot Apples

Begin with apples. Any apple will do. Some of my favorites include Granny Smith for their nice firm texture and tart flavor.

I also like Golden Delicious and Pink Lady for their amazing taste. Just use your favorite – it’s a great way to use up old apples.

And did I mention how amazing your house will smell??

Peel and core the apples, then slice about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick. If you’re using a firm apple slice them thinner, if your apples are soft cut them thicker so they keep their shape.

This is so much easier if you have an apple corer that slices at the same time!

Put all the apple slices in the crock pot, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and stir to coat. Dot with butter and cook until soft.

As they cook, a magical syrup develops—this stuff is liquid gold!

I made this on a cold winter day, and it was wonderful. I just ate them as is, but I imagine this would be good over pancakes, yogurt, etc. I'll definitely make this again.

Can you cook the apples with the skin on? Does it require more cooking time? Thank you recipe....looks wonderful!

I've never tried with skin. If you like it that way, I don't think it will take much more time, if any.

If I want to double the recipe do I double everything or will all that liquid make a mushy mess?

Rebekah

You're safe to double the recipe. The longer you cook them the more liquid will come out/turn to apple sauce. So just judge the texture you want and stop cooking then. I like mine on the firm side.

Dang, I used my own apples from my own apple tree and after 2 hours in the crockpot on high, my apples were mush. Stirred it and it turned to a thick too-sweet apple sauce. :(
